Hi-Fi Mi-Tube review

Here's what they had to say...

"Fatman Mi-Tube is based on a 50 year old design!

UK manufacturer Fatman has released a compact, circular valve amplifier with Bluetooth that uses a design suggested half a century ago.

The new Fatman Mi-Tube is small (just 183145mm) and is rated with an output of 28-watts per channel. It has two output taps, one with an impedance of 4Ω and the other with an impedance of 8Ω. The claimed signal-to-noise ratio of the hybrid valve amplifier is 86dB. Like other products in the Fatman range, Mi-Tube has been designed to enable portable device users to benefit from the high level of sound quality that a valve-based amplifier system has to offer, said Tony Larking, Fatmans founder. Currently available in glossy white and black finishes, several custom top covers are also planned including a Union Jack in readiness for the UK's Diamond Jubilee and Olympic celebrations and a crystal-encrusted "bling" top for the fashion conscious, he added.

In addition to two standard pairs of RCA phono inputs for connecting CD players and other line level sources, the new Mi-Tube has Bluetooth connectivity to enable audio to be streamed wirelessly, so the amplifier can be used with any compatible Bluetooth-enabled device, as well as with smartphones, laptops, iPhones, iPads and iPods. We've already had a very positive response to Mi-Tube, Larking told Australian Hi-Fi Magazine. As always, we have tried to combine high quality valve technology with a contemporary look and feel that appeals to a wide range of listeners. The Bluetooth facility looks set to be popular as it enables users to remotely switch tracks from wherever they are in the room, which is handy for living rooms and work spaces, as well as being great for parties!'"
